Job Description
NO grease, NO flipping burgers, NO frying! Helix is currently seeking an individual with basic culinary training and assistant management experience in a food setting, or training in culinary management, to help make our ventless kitchen run smoothly. We are searching for an energetic, organized, highly motivated individual who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented bar and cafe environment. Job Responsibilities
Assist with ordering and inventory of all food items to stock the kitchen
Receiving kitchen supply deliveries and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered
Basic food prep, including slicing meats and cheeses for charcuterie boards, thawing soups for soup warmers, and using TurboChefs for heating various menu items
The ability to safely use equipment and tools including sharp knives, a meat slicer, and ovens
Cleaning and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment
Plate food items neatly, so that there is a consistent appearance of plates coming out of the kitchen
Assist with unloading food deliveries, and making sure items are properly stored in refrigerators, freezers, and pantry
Stock kitchen with supplies as needed
Make sure to clean each work surface or cutting board before and after use, and sweep and mop the floor at end of food service
Other cleaning tasks such as taking out the trash, washing dishes and flatware (during shifts when a Dishwasher is not present), and using a high-temperature dishwasher may be necessary
Resolving customer complaints regarding food and beverage quality, and customer service
Suggesting new menu items based on customer feedback
Identifying ways to retain customers and attract new customers
Set a positive tone and strong work ethic, leading by example
Ability to calmly and effectively multitask in a fast-based, busy environment
Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds frequently, move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and /or lift up to 50 pounds (with reasonable accommodations, such as a hand truck). You should also be able to climb up and down a ladder

Qualifications and Skills
1 to 2 years of kitchen experience
High school diploma or GED
Certification or previous training in culinary arts is not necessary but a definite plus
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
Available to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends
Ability to stand for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the establishment, including slick surfaces in the back of house
An understanding of food allergy procedures to help avoid cross-contamination of food items leaving the kitchen
A Food Handler’s Certificate or the ability to complete a training course and get a Food Handler’s Certificate before your start date
Compensation
The Helix Assistant Kitchen Manager/Director of Food salary will be dependent on your number of years of experience in kitchen assistant management, and any education you may have in Hospitality or Restaurant Management. The salary range for this position is $32,000 to $36,000 a year, and you will be eligible for 2 weeks of vacation per year, after 6 months of employment.
