Job Description
Helix is currently seeking experienced candidates to join our service team as bartenders. We are searching for friendly, energetic, highly motivated individuals who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented bar & restaurant environment.
Bartenders are responsible for helping to create an exceptional experience for all guests, and exceeding expectations with efficient and friendly guest service. Being an energetic team player with a lot of enthusiasm and a passion for making people happy are keys to success in this position.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare and serve beverages to guests according to exacting recipes
Stock/restock applicable areas of the bar with alcohol, glassware, ice, and supplies
Availability to work a variety of days of the week and hours of the day, including weekends
Capable of serving a full bar top as well as providing drinks to servers for the main dining area, and patio seating
Able to safely tolerate hands frequently being exposed to liquids, including water, cleaning solutions, various alcohols, and juices.
Safely and effectively operate all tools necessary to prepare and garnish drinks, including a blender, knives, citrus peeler, and corkscrew.
Safely and properly change beer kegs, CO2 tanks, and soda dispensers
Safely and effectively operate high-temperature dishwasher as needed, to assist barback with cleaning glassware
Maintain the security of bar stock and inventory by accounting for all items in the bar
Responsible for keeping the bar cash drawer safe, and reconciling of the cash drawer at end of the shift
Ability to recognize when a guest is intoxicated, and refuse to over-serve intoxicated guests, using a tactful and empathetic communication style, and notify management of any concerns regarding a guest who appears to be intoxicated
Accurately record all items ordered by guests, process payments, and balance all sales/receipts in compliance with Helix policies and procedures
Proficiency in the use of our POS System, and Credit Card terminals
Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines to keep Helix a healthy space
Have successfully fulfilled the state requirement to be a certified bartender in Wisconsin, including training on responsible alcohol service
Follow all company rules, policies, and conditions of employment, as outlined in the Helix Employee Handbook

Qualifications and Skills
At least 2 years of experience in this same role
High school diploma or GED
Excellent interpersonal skills
Great communication skills
A positive and friendly attitude towards guests and co-workers
Ability to communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements, whether by written instructions or spoken directions.
Ability to calmly and effectively multitask in a fast-based, busy environment
Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds frequently, move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and /or lift up to 60 pounds (with reasonable accommodations, such as a hand truck). You should also be able to climb up and down a ladder
Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the establishment, which may include stairs and slick surfaces
Available to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends
Compensation
Starting base wage of $7.50 to $10/hour plus tips. Wage is dependent on prior experience level, and if you have extensive knowledge of/experience in mixology, or the wine and/or beer industries. Enjoy 50% off two food menu items per shift, and 10% off all retail when you work 15 or more hours per week. (Some restrictions apply—details in the Helix Employee Handbook).
