Job Description

Helix is currently seeking friendly and energetic candidates to join our cafe team. We are searching for highly motivated individuals who enjoy a work environment that is different everyday, as our cafe program transitions from a coffee bar in the morning to a lunch cafe in the afternoon. A passion for helping customers, and previous experience are both pluses.

Job Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers, answer questions about menu items, and process payments

  • Prepare espresso drinks using our technologically advanced espresso machine

  • Enhance presentation of drinks using latte art

  • Brew coffee and tea

  • Grind and precisely weigh coffee for brewing

  • Prepare and serve various breakfast food items, such as baked pastries and breakfast sandwiches

  • Safely operate TurboChef convection ovens

  • Safely operate our espresso machine and coffee brewer

  • Safely operate a blender for blended drinks

  • Keep track of product inventory at coffee prep station, on coffee counter, and in display cases

  • Replenishing and cleaning dining areas and work stations, cleaning and sanitizing utensils and coffee equipment, and dumping trash are all responsibilities during your shift

  • Follow all food safety quality control and regulations

  • Follow all company rules, policies and conditions of employment, as outlined in the Helix Employee Handbook

  • Work well with others in order to help Team Helix thrive

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma or GED

  • At least 1 year of experience in the same position is a definite plus

  • Excellent time management skills

  • A positive and friendly attitude towards co-workers and the ability to be a team player

  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment

  • Available to work a variety of days and including weekends

  • Ability to stand for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the establishment, which may include slick surfaces in the back of the house

  • Understand and comply with all Food Safety guidelines, and ensure that cleaning guidelines are being followed at all times to maintain a safe establishment

Compensation

Starting base wage of $12-$15/hour, plus tips. Your wage is dependent on experience level. Enjoy 50% off two food menu items per shift, and 10% off all retail when you work 15 or more hours per week. (Some restrictions apply—see Employee Handbook for details).
