Job Description
Helix is currently seeking an exceptional and experienced candidate to help lead our service team. We are searching for a friendly, energetic, highly motivated individual who will thrive as a leader in our fast-paced, team-oriented bar & restaurant environment, and work alongside ownership on a regular basis.
As the Bar Manager at Helix, you will help create our cocktail menus, train the bar team, and oversee our staff of bartenders, barbacks, and servers. Job Responsibilities
Creates cocktail menus in keeping with the Helix experience of the beauty of the classics done right
Recruits, manages and trains the bar team, and when necessary disciplines staff
Oversees staff, including bartenders and barbacks, and in some cases kitchen staff and servers as well
Delegates tasks to staff as and when appropriate
Manages employees’ schedules and shift trade requests
Maintains inventory
Ensures that main bar and rooftop bar (seasonal) are well stocked and clean
Maintains drink recipe documentation in the “Helix Drinks Bible”
Coordinates with owners to select and purchase liquor and other supplies
Works with owners in overseeing the planning of special events
Maintains relationships with our many distributors
Uses POS System tracking technology to provide sales reports for owners when requested
Qualifications and Skills
• High school diploma or GED
Associate’s degree or higher. Degree in Hospitality or Restaurant/Bar management a plus
Bartender’s certification
At least 2 years work experience as a Bartender in a bar or restaurant
At least 2 years of Management experience as a Bar Manager or Assistant Bar Manager
Familiarity with POS tracking technology and bar and restaurant management platforms
Excellent at multitasking and problem-solving
Calmness under pressure
Ability to maintain restraint in stressful situations and de-escalate tense interactions
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Interpersonal relationship and customer service skills
Strong leadership skills
Proficient math skills and comfort using hospitality and sales technology platforms and POS software
Enthusiasm and a lot of energy
Compensation
Salary is negotiable, and will be dependent on your number of years of experience in bar management, education in Hospitality or Restaurant/Bar Management, as well as any special skills you have in Mixology. As the Helix Bar Manager, you will be eligible for 2 weeks of vacation per year, after 6 months of employment.
